Cut edge corrosion happens when the original coating system begins to curl up at the edges, exposing the steel it was protecting. It is an increasing issue on cladding covered structures. Left untreated, the corrosion spreads and worsens, leading to leaks and damage to the interior foam insulation.

It can be treated with a number of different systems, depending on the type of cladding and extent of the damage, sealing leaks and preventing further spread. This is an extremely cheap alternative to replacing the cladding.

Generally, skylights and guttering simply need a good clean to bring them back to their original state, with annual maintenance recommended to increase lifespan and prevent, or at least delay, expensive replacements. To stop corrosion and leakage in guttering we can install gutter lining systems as an inexpensive long term solution.
